Course Description:

The Diabetes Comprehensive Training Courses is held every year with the aim of updating clinicians and researchers on the most recent advances in different fields of diabetes. The course includes a team based training session which is designed to adopt a multifaceted approach to diabetes care by different health care professionals such as general practitioners, as well as nurses and nutritionists.

During these courses, the theoretical aspects of the most important clinically relevant topics of diabetes are delivered in a cumulative time of 42 hours in 11 days. The topics include but are not limited to the following: an overview of diabetes, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic foot, nutrition, oral anti-diabetic agents, insulin therapy, Islamic fasting and diabetes, medical ethics, diabetes in children, gestational diabetes, and other common diabetes- related subjects.

Following the theoretical course, the participants are asked to attend to the practical sessions being held at diabetes clinics of EMRI for a total length of 12 working days (2 consecutive weeks).


To improve and update the abilities & knowledge of General Practitioners involved or interested in diabetes management.

Programme duration: 4 weeks

Delivery Format:

Classroom instructor & hands on training in diabetes clinics of Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute (EMRI).

Course outline:

10 consecutive days of detailed diabetes related sessions followed by 2weeks of hands-on training.

Qualification gained on successful completion of the course:

The Continuing medical education (CME) credit, which is approved by the Ministry of Health of I.R. of Iran.

Additional activities:

Upon successful completion of the course, the participants can develop their knowledge and skills in managing people with diabetes.
