He is currently Professor of Medicine at TUMS and serves as Deputy Minister of Health in medical education. In addition to his leadership role in Iranian medicine , he serves as extraordinary role model who continues to practice endocrinology and conducts clinical research. He has authored hundreds of journal articles and published several books in the fields of endocrinology, diabetes, and medical ethics. With more than 18000 citations and an H-index of 100 recorded by Google Scholar in 2020, he is arguably the most prominent physician in Iran.
Dr. Larijani and his associates have created a scientific environment and excellent setting for medical students and fellows interested in diverse aspects of diabetes to learn, do research, and readily seek advice.
Her outstanding contributions to diabetes education are truly acknowledged. Thanks to his efforts over the last twenty years, the Institute under his directorship has established fellowship program, PhD by Research, Sabbatical, PostDoc, and Research Physician Program in endocrinology field that has contributed to significant improvement in the quality of care provided to patients in the country.
He trained and nurtured many young scientists who are now becoming leaders in the field. Furthermore, he has created the teaching content of core course of diabetes education and developed different workshops and comprehensive curse for diabetes management.
Dr. Larijani has made significant contributions to design and development of national-scale, multi-sectoral policies aiming at controlling the rampant nation-wide increase in the burden of non-communicable diseases with special focus on diabetes.
