National Network of WHO Collaborating Centers holds webinar with WHO collaborating Centers
Members of the National Network of WHO Collaborating Centers came together in a video-conference and shared experiences on the challenges of the WHO collaborating centers to provide solutions to overcome the challenges caused by COVID 19 pandemic and to coordinate the activities of the centers according to the current crisis at the national and regional levels.
Heads, authorities, and representatives of WHOCCs presented the obstacles and solutions for them.
WHO collaborating centres are institutions such as research institutes, parts of universities or academies, which are designated by the Director-General to carry out activities in support of the Organization's programmes.
Currently there are over 800 WHO collaborating centres in over 80 Member States working with WHO on areas such as nursing, occupational health, communicable diseases, nutrition, mental health, chronic diseases and health technologies.Out of the 48 active WHOCCs in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR), 16 are located in Iran. The Iranian WHOCCs cover a rainbow of health-related topics from molecular medicine, to management of communicable and non-communicable diseases and economic evaluation of health policies.
