Advanced Training in Diabetic Foot Ulcer Prevention and Treatment

Endocrinology and Metabolic Research Institute held its seventh skill enhancement course on diabetic foot care to elevate the knowledge and professional skills in caring for diabetic patients.

According to the Public Relations of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institue designed and implemented this course from August 6 to 18, 2023, with the aim of reducing complications arising from diabetic foot ulcers and improving patients' quality of life.

Participants in this skill-based training course, which was authorized by the National Educational and Vocational Center of Medical Sciences, included various groups such as general practitioners and specialists, nurses, and general practitioners working in the family physician scheme.

Topics covered in this training course included: physiology of the diabetic foot and risk factors for ulcer development, methods of diagnosing diabetic foot ulcers, including clinical examination and imaging, classification of diabetic foot ulcers and its importance in treatment, conservative and invasive treatment methods for ulcers, use of advanced dressings and surgery, patient education, blood glucose control, skin care, and infection prevention.

Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the most serious complications of diabetes that can lead to amputation and even death. By providing the latest methods of diagnosis, treatment, and care for diabetic feet, this course helps participants to manage their patients with more confidence.

The benefits of participating in these training courses include updating knowledge with the latest scientific achievements, increasing practical skills in diagnosing and treating diabetic foot ulcers, the opportunity to interact with leading experts in this field, and receiving a valid certificate of completion.
